For 5 years we spent every Friday night playing volleyball practicing for the Easter Long weekend tournament. And every year we would go into the tournament with high hopes only to be defeated. The defeat was not due to poor performance by our team, but usually by the schedule. The schedule would always have it so that the top 2 teams would always be in the same division resulting in us getting beat out in the first round of the playoffs every year.
Then, in 2002 we had our breakout year. We went into the tournament with no expectations and came out winners !! Finally, after 5 years of practicing, playing in run down gyms, watching X-Files and eating pizza, organizing hockey pools, we won the Toronto Volleyball Tournament !! It was a big day for all of us. Such a big day that we decided that we would never play the game of volleyball again !
The famous quote by Vince Lombardi: "Winners never quit and quitters never win."
Planet Guju doesn't follow by those rules. We won, we quit and we'll be winners forever!!
